Each cup brings an instant peaceful feeling. I have a hot frothy cup each day with organic soy milk and it feels amazing.
It's a moment to centre, and release any stress, to connect with my thoughts and find inner
calm.
I remember being struck by a garden show I was watching, they showed a beautiful Japanese garden, there was a tea-house down a path that was made of organically shaped paving stones and they were all placed so that each step you took were uneven distances from each other so you had to become present with every step.
They led through beautiful greenery and flowers with a dreamlike canopy up to the tea house. To get inside you had to crawl on all fours and squeeze through the small door to enter which made everyone equal as they entered.
As everyone knelt and waited for their host to brew the tea, she performed such a mindful and lovely ritual - this ritual is to promote a positive connection between the host and their guest. It is a very complex and beautiful process that uses specific tools for each part of the ritual. If you would like to learn more about it see here.
I use the chasen which is a small bamboo whisk that helps make the tea frothy and disperses the matcha so it doesn't clump.
I really love my mini ritual I perform when I'm making my morning brew, it adds to my morning a real presence. A good start to the day!
So I have sort of become hooked, my day doesn't feel right without it and I thought about researching the health benefits, which are many. In particular I wanted to get some idea of why I'm not getting many menopausal symptoms like many women I know. It got me to thinking if the soy milk and matcha was a good thing for hormonal and mood balancing.
Well it turns out it very much is.
Matcha is a powerhouse of nutrients that can be particularly beneficial during menopause. Its high concentration of antioxidants helps combat oxidative stress and inflammation. When combined with organic soy milk, matcha can provide additional benefits due to the presence of phytoestrogens in soy. These plant compounds mimic estrogen in the body, potentially helping to alleviate some menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings. Incorporating matcha with organic soy milk into your diet during menopause can be a delicious and nutritious element to support your overall well-being during this powerful stage of life.
