What is a Microbiome?

Updated: Jan 9, 2023

The community of microorganisms that lives on and inside you is known as the Human Microbiome. It is truly amazing and interesting, or maybe that's just me. Since the invention of soap until now we are bombarded with ways to kill the bacteria, viruses and fungi that call our bodies their home, but now many of us are taking Probiotics, keen to drink beverages made from creepy cultures, eat fermented cabbage AKA Sauerkraut and Kimchi and some people even go as far as popping someone else's faecal matter into their own bodies to increase their amounts of Gut Flora. Prebiotic food is becoming more popular to consume with our Probiotics to help feed the little critters in their new homes.

We have a huge amount of bacteria in our bodies - in fact, more bacterial cells than our own human cells!

There is no way folks can argue that humans are the dominant species in our current climate.

There is so much more information available about the Microbiome as Scientists research and there will be tons more to come.

Recent discoveries have found that a healthy Microbiome acts like another whole 'system' in the body which is essential to our immune function, digestion, the way we deal with inflammation or toxins and even how we feel emotionally.

Get interested! It is THE key to good health and it's not just diet and soils that help keep your microbiome healthy, it's how we think, speak, act and feel that make a healthy body and mind and therefore life.
